Empowering small business to build strong communities
As part of the GoDaddy GoCommunities social impact program, GoDaddy has teamed up with Jane Boyd Community House to equip entrepreneurs with training, tools and peer networks to accelerate their journey and support their families. Together, they have developed the city’s first neighborhood-based business accelerator to connect more small businesses to the city’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Cedar Rapids Entrepreneurial Program (CREP) is a new initiative helping to break down barriers non-traditional entrepreneurs face in starting, operating and running their small businesses in metro Cedar Rapids.
Unique Program Offerings
- Location: Hosted at the Paul Engle Center, in the Wellington Heights neighborhood in Cedar Rapids, IA
- Transportation: Partnering with a community agency to provide transportation to and from the CREP.
- Childcare: Providing certificated afterschool childcare with dinner and homework support.
Customized Learning Experience and Network
CREP engages entrepreneurs in hands-on, interactive trainings and workshops; connects entrepreneurs with specialized coaches and mentors; and opens doors to build other important relationships via a small business network. CREP also provides a network of support to assist entrepreneurs in furthering their pursuit of learning business management skills and exploring financial capital.
CREP recruits and selects entrepreneurs who live in the Wellington Heights community or surrounding underserved neighborhoods who have significant challenges to starting or running a successful small business. Program participants are hungry to gain new skills, build new relationships and realize their potential, so they can strengthen their small business and support their families. Participants will be assigned to cohort groups and will attend bi-weekly workshops, receive one-on-one coaching, have access to new technology tools and participate in program celebration events.
