The Harambee House, 404 17th St. SE in Cedar Rapids, offers a variety of community services including a clothing closet and access to technology. In Swahili, Harambee loosely translated means, “Let’s work together.” That’s exactly what we do. It is open to the public and no appointment is necessary. A gathering space is open to the public for business and organization meetings.
Our team is known for working with families who need help, including housing assistance, clothing and other assistance. In 2017, more than 3,700 individuals used the Harambee House Community Resource Center.
The Harmabee House Clothing Closet is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The items for children through adults are free, and the closet is supported through donations and volunteers. No appointment is necessary. Donations of new or gently used child through adult clothing is accepted at the Harambee House. For more information, call the Harambee House at 319-366-1408.
Bread and bakery items are available for free on a limited basis on Tuesdays at the Harambee House. The service is provided on a first come - first served basis and is supported by donors and volunteers. For more information, call the Harambee House at 319-366-1408.
